New AI Technology Empowers Law Enforcement Agencies
in Disaster Prevention and Response

Brussels, Belgium — 30/11/24 an innovative move to bolster disaster prevention and response efforts, seven small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from across the European Union have launched LEAD-PRO, a novel Horizon 2020 project. This initiative aims to equip law enforcement agencies (LEAs) with cutting-edge AI technology to enhance their capabilities in managing disaster events effectively.
LEAD-PRO brings together a consortium of forward-thinking partners, including ITERATO and L3CE from Lithuania, and ISACA Europe from Ireland. The project is coordinated by Mr. Albert Algans from NUUK, ensuring a collaborative approach to developing solutions tailored to the unique challenges faced by LEAs.
The primary goal of LEAD-PRO is to create advanced AI tools that enable law enforcement to better prepare for, respond to, and recover from disaster situations. By leveraging real-time data analysis and intelligent decision-making systems, the project aims to streamline communication, improve resource allocation, and enhance operational efficiency during crises.
“This project represents a significant step forward in how law enforcement agencies can utilize technology to protect communities and respond to emergencies,” said Mr. Algans. “Our collective expertise will enable us to develop solutions that not only address current challenges but also anticipate future needs in disaster management.”
Harnessing the Horizon 2020 Platform
LEAD-PRO is part of the larger Horizon 2020 framework, which emphasizes research and innovation as a means to drive societal progress and economic growth across Europe. The project seeks to leverage the results and insights gained from previous Horizon initiatives to ensure that its solutions are grounded in proven methodologies and best practices.
By building on the successes of past projects, LEAD-PRO aims to enhance the impact of AI technologies in disaster management. This includes integrating lessons learned regarding effective communication, risk assessment, and community engagement, thereby maximizing the potential for success in real-world applications.
The LEAD-PRO consortium is committed to fostering collaboration among stakeholders and ensuring that the developed technologies are accessible and practical for end users. Through ongoing engagement with law enforcement agencies and other relevant organizations, the project aims to ensure that its solutions align with the realities faced by those on the front lines of disaster response.

As the project progresses, LEAD-PRO will focus on several key objectives, including:

-
Developing AI-driven tools for real-time data analysis to support disaster prevention and management.
-
Enhancing training and resources for law enforcement agencies to better handle disaster situations.
-
Promoting information sharing and collaboration among European LEAs to improve overall disaster response efforts.

The LEAD-PRO project represents a significant investment in the future of disaster management and showcases the potential of AI technology to transform how law enforcement agencies operate in times of crisis.
